A great spinoff to May 1sts NO CHC meeting in Mount Horeb was an invitation from Brenda Schmidt to set up our information table at Mixpo.  She thought CHC would get good exposure since it is a local trade show that attracts a mix of people.  Brenda graciously made the arrangements, paid the registration fee, and volunteered to help Deb Eide and me staff the table Thursday night.
We talked to a lot of people, including two women who are adamantly in favor of the lines.  One believed steadfastly that there is a need and feared her air conditioner would not run all day without the new lines.  The other likewise believed there is a need, based on information from her husband who works for MG&E, and her son repairs poles for ATC.  It was good–albeit challenging–to be reminded that not everyone agrees with us and that we need to attend events where we can preach to more than the choir.

A high point was a visit from Steve Salerno, Superintendent of Mount Horeb Area School District  which set a precedent by being the first school district to pass an opposition resolution.  The resulting story finally got the opposition’s position on Madison television.  He was very much interested in our June 30th I DID A RIDE and Rally, took flyers to distribute, and will post an announcement on the District’s Facebook page!
Thank you Brenda, for providing Driftless Defenders this opportunity to raise public awareness.
